Our Key Employees

Gap Engineering is comprised of an experienced and talented group of technical experts. We have approximately 20 employees - 10 engineers, techinicians, designers and office clerical staff. Below are some of our key employees:

Mike Homma, P. E. – President, Marketing Director

Mike has a degree in Chemical Engineering and is an experienced Process Control Engineer with over 24 years of experience in advanced process control and process engineering, project management and project engineering. Some of his specialized skills include the OSIsoft PI System, Honeywell (TDC3000, TDC2000, GUS, APP Node and PHD), Emerson Delta V, Foxboro IA, Fisher Provox, Wonderware MMI, Intellutions MMI, Dec VAX/VMS system administration, NT system administration and Novell Network system administration.

Randy Holmes – Operations Manager, Construction Manager

Randy has over 20 years of experience in construction and site management, installation and project execution procedures and work processes. He has industry leading experience managing industrial automation projects, extensive Foundation Fieldbus installation experience, and is a subject matter expert on hot cut over, project execution, commissioning, construction and site management. In the past, Randy has managed projects in excess of $500MM, collectively, as an employee for Honeywell, Yokogawa, and Foxboro and as owner representative for Motiva Refining as construction manager on Emerson Reinstrumentation projects.

Stan Kersch – Lead Engineer

Stan has a degree in Process Control Engineering and has 20 years of experience in process engineering, process control, and production management. He is experienced in designing, configuring, and installing Distributed Control Systems (DCS), including Bailey Infi90, Yokogawa CS3000, and Honeywell TDC3000. He is also proficient in advanced control applications and neural net modeling of multivariable control implementations tools. Some of his specialized skills include TDC 2000/3000, Honeywell FCS and Safety Manager, Wonderware, Intellutions, Allen Bradley PLC, Gould Modicon PLC, TI PLC’s, Siemens PLC, Bailey Infi 90, Yokogawa CS3000, and OSI PI installation and configuration.

Russell Dowling – Senior Process Control Engineer

Russell holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering and offers a broad range of process control, design, and operations engineering experience in the petroleum refining and petrochemical industries. He is also experienced in process control systems modeling and simulation, applications software development, programming, integration and electromechanical systems maintenance and construction. He has been involved in numerous DCS revamps and migrations, system programming and configuration in Bailey, Forney, Foxboro, Yokogawa CS3000, Delta V, GE PAC, Honeywell TDC2000/3000, Taylor interfaced to DEC and Honeywell process control computer hosts. From the process standpoint, he is experienced with procedural and block languages, model-predictive control, and GUIs of several industrial vendor flowsheet simulators, neural networks and linear programming.

Slavek Kamionka – Lead Development Engineer

Slavek has a degree in Computer Science and over 10 years of experience in Information Technology with expertise in system integration, real time data processing and software development. He has installed OPC and other drivers for DCS and PLC’s systems. In addition to this, he has experience with the development, implementation and integration of multiple vendor software with DCS, HMI, SCADA and process control systems. Some of his experiences include design and development of algorithm-based automated test software for DDE and OPC based systems, custom applications for batch conversion of displays from one platform to another, process data migration with historians and development of various HMI Windows and Web Based applications utilizing available OPC and PLC .NET libraries from Advasol, Ingear, Open Automation Software, Visavi, Iconics and Cogent to display process and historical data from Honeywell Experion, Honeywell PHD, Allen-Bradley PCL, and others.

William Lee – Construction Lead

Bill has over 15 years in the Instrumentation and Electical Field and worked at many of the largest Chemical and Refining facilities in the nation. He has held many construction management positions throughout industry and completed many successful projects.Bills most recent project was the Coker Expansion project at Total Petrochemicals in Port Arthur Texas. Bill was an owners representative and responsible for QA/QC and third party testing of key electrical components of the project.
